A folder of generated shots can show how much a team explored. A finished ad raises a broader question: can the next person understand the choices behind it and find where to make a revision?
For a creative lead, I'd make that work visible with a decision map:
Brief → source material → edit → export → next revision.
The map can fit into a short handoff note. Here is a filled example for an illustrative merge game ad.
Begin with what the ad should explain
The brief asks the viewer to understand one action: combine two small plants to grow something bigger. That is a usable starting point for reviewing the materials and the finished message.
For this example, I'd use gameplay capture to show the merge and its result. A generated garden could establish the setting. Recording that choice explains which part needs to represent the game and which part is designed around it.
Carry the decision through the edit
The edit connects the action to its result. The caption names the change the viewer can see, and the end card continues the invitation to try the merge.
Now the reviewer can follow the promise through the assembled ad. The discussion can address whether the intended action and outcome are understandable, rather than relying on the volume of source material as the explanation of the work.
Review the export and the route back
Check the actual delivery format: are both plants still visible, can the caption be read, and does the end card preserve the same invitation? These checks belong to the exported file, even if the working timeline looked correct.
The handoff then identifies the source footage, editable caption and approved export. A short revision instruction points to where the next caption change starts. This gives the next person a route back from the result to the material that produced it.
A completed note for this example could read: “Promise: show the merge. Sources: gameplay for the action, generated garden for the setting. Edit: action followed by result. Export: crop and caption checked. Revision: change the named caption layer and export from the identified project.”
This is a proposed way to review production. It doesn't establish campaign performance or replace testing. It gives the buyer something smaller and immediately inspectable: the chain of decisions behind one finished ad, including its next revision.
Pick one finished ad: which link in its decision map is hardest to trace?
