Imagine a simple game scene built for this example. A character stands beside a lever. A closed gate occupies the other side of the wide frame. The character pulls the lever, and the gate opens. The sequence has a visible problem, an action and a result.

Now put a narrow frame around the character and lever. Both fit. The composition may even look cleaner. But the gate has disappeared, so the viewer can no longer see what the movement achieved.

That is the distinction worth carrying into a reformat review: an object can remain in frame while the action loses its meaning.

Follow the sequence through the new frame

Start with the setup. The viewer needs enough information to understand what might change. In the illustrative scene, that includes the closed gate. A close shot of the character alone tells a different story.

Next, look at the action. The lever, the character's interaction and the direction of attention need to remain understandable. If a moving crop is used, its movement should help the viewer follow that connection.

Finally, inspect the result. The open gate must be visible when the payoff occurs. A caption can explain the result, but adding one changes the creative and introduces another readability decision.

These three moments provide a small review map. They do not replace watching the complete sequence: transitions, later captions and moving objects can create problems between the selected frames.

Choose what the adaptation needs

Keeping the whole original frame at a smaller scale preserves its contents but may weaken small details. Moving the crop can preserve emphasis over time, provided the sequence supports it. Changing the cut can establish the gate separately. Creating a new shot gives more compositional freedom and adds production work.

The right choice depends on the intended message and the available material. There is no single margin that resolves all four choices. Platform guidance and interface overlays also need checking for the actual placement.

Our own static cover corrections made meaningful edges a concrete review concern. That observation is about our covers; this game scene is an illustration of how to ask a related question over time, not a client performance case.
